Well it's been a fricking age since I've posted anything on here, mainly because I find the majority of games extremely boring. Must be getting old! If anything is guaranteed to get me excited though, it's a new Capcom beat'em-up. Even more so if it's a vs one, featuring the Marvel bunch.
Luckily for me then, that Capcom are strongly rumoured to have unveiled Marvel vs Capcom 3 at their recent Captivate event in Hawaii. Apparently it's under strict embargo at the moment, so no screensor movies are yet available, but it does seem to be a fairly genuine rumour.
Not a lot of info has surfaced, but it's supposedly coming to PS3 and 360, will be a full retail game, due late 2010/early 2011, and will be a 2D fighter, but not 2D graphics. Street Fighter IV engine I'd imagine. Characters so far rumoured are Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk, Magneto and Storm. No Capcom fighters have been mentioned yet.
I'm going to be keeping my ear close to the ground on this one, but while I'm here, may as well list the characters I'd like to see on each side who haven't yet joined the ranks of MvC 1 or 2....
From the Capcom side, it simply HAS to have Dante. I'd settle for the last game with added Dante tbh. Some Resi characters would be welcome too, as would Viewtiful Joe, and Samonosuke from Onimusha. Would be nice to have a good mix of Street Fighter 2, 3, 4 and Alpha in there too, as the older games were very Alpha heavy.
Marvel wise, there's sooo much potential. Daredevil, Punisher, Warbird, Silver Surfer, X23, Cloak & Dagger (now THAT would be an awesome super combo), the Fantastic Four would all make great additions to the line-up. An easy win for Capcom could be to do the evil variants of heroes from the recent Siege/Dark Avengers storylines - Daken (dark Wolverine), Iron Patriot, Ms Marvel etc, as they could essentially be reskinned charas with some alternate moves. My inner Marvel fanboy is squeeing with delight. :D
